Adult Learn-to-Row

Rowers on Otonabee RiverEach summer, we offer an introduction to the sport of rowing through our Learn-to-Row programs. We encourage people of all shapes, sizes and ages to participate. There are no special skills required, other than an adequate swimming ability.

The Adult Learn-to-Row program consists of six evenings of instruction (2 evenings/week). On the first night, you will start out on land, learning the basics of stroke technique on the ergometers (rowing machines). Successive evenings will find you on the water, progressively working up to rowing in a crew of four or eight with a coxswain (one who steers, motivates and helps the crew to row together).

If, at the completion of your lessons, you decide that you want to continue to row throughout the summer, the Learn-to-Row fee can be applied to a recreational club membership. Check out the Recreation program.

6 lessons, 2 per week, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, for three consecutive weeks,
either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays.
